Case Study - The Wall
The
wall in question forms one part of the perimeter wall of an
apartment block in Twickenham. The existing wall had become
dangerously unstable and needed re-building.
The residents association contacted us via this web site and
asked us to quote on the job. They also asked us for details
of previous projects which were visited and examined by various
members of the association.
Needless to say they were pleased with what they saw and we
were awarded the contract.
The first job was to take down the old wall. This had to be
done with care rather than with a sledgehammer as where possible
the existing bricks would be re-used. Each one had to be cleaned
and prepared for later use.
Once the old wall was down we had to dig up and prepare the
footings.
Enter Mr Farnham...
Mr Farnham is a local resident who regulary had to run the gauntlet
past the old wall to get from his house to the main road.
He
introduced himself early in the project and would often stop
by for a chat.
As the new wall began to go up, he became increasingly animated
and exited at the prospect of his new, safe throughfare. He
regularly bought others with him to show off the wall and then
started showing up with his camera.
It turned out he was infact a professional photographer and
it is him we have to thank for the stunning images on this page.
